Silvers Update

Hey Everyone!  We have some good news.  They will definitely be having silvers this summer at Penn State.  The format of the meet will be slightly different.  It’s going to run Saturday and Sunday– one session each day timed finals.  ALL age groups will be swimming together– making it a fun team meet for BDA!    Warmups will start at 7 am on Saturday and Sunday, and the meet will start at 8 am both days.  Right now, the timeline looks like it will last until about 12 pm on Saturday, and 1 pm on Sunday.  Everyone can now have 5 swims per day, so we are updating some events, and will send out revised entries soon.  We are looking forward to some more fast and fun swimming and a fantastic end to our summer season!

2014 Senior Championships Saturday Finals

Katie Voitik got her Nightime shot at finals in the 1500 and made the most of it with a brilliant swim. Voitik held her swim under goal pace with her best swim of the meet. Voitik struggled with her swims most of the meet with some bests and some around her bests and some way off the mark. The 1500 Final Voitik landed right on the mark as she went out in exactly the same 800 Time she did a few days earlier but this time she got it on her feet when she flipped so in essence it was really faster than her 800 (9:45.61). Voitik hit an 18:24.18 to cut her time by 18 seconds. Katie Voitik scored BDA’s only points of the meet and put us in 35th place overall with her 7th place finish. It was our only finals and top 8 swim. Congrats Katie! The swim lifted her into 2nd place on the BDA All Time Top 10 and gave her swim and swimmer of the session.

100% LTB (2 of 2)

Swimmer of the Meet was Nico Lastauskas. Congrats on a performance well done each and everyday.

Good job BDA.

Below is Peyton McNulty with the double 13-14 Age Group National Record holder Reese Whitley. Peyton gave Reese some advice. ‘Being Tall is just Awesome.’

2014 Senior Champs Saturday AM

50 Free

Angela Stahl just missed her best 50 Free by .11 with a 30.99. Katie Voitik was off by .14 in her 50 with a 29.63. Cat Donlon rocketed to a new PR in her 50 with a 28.55. The time put Cat into 3rd on the BDA All Time Top 10 chart. Kyle the “Time Trial’ Bushta was in the real heats this time and showed off his 50 speed with a BUST LOOSE swim time of 26.56. The time was a Senior Cut, Zone Cut, and put Bushta 10th overall on the BDA All TimeTop 10 list. Bushta is the shortest man on the TOP 10 list. A statistic that makes the swim all the more impressive. Bushta’s swim garnered him the Swim of the session.

200 IM

Peyton McNulty and Cat Donlon were a bit off of their bests by 1 second and 3 seconds respectively with strong swims but having a stroke or two off.

Nico Lastaukas jumped to a PR in his IM with a double best, swimming a fast 50 Fly of 30.96, to finish with a 2:24.84 time. Lastauskas moved up to 5th on the BDA All Time TOP 10 list with his time.

TIME TRIALS

Ben Evans swam to a best time in his 50 Free with a 27.34 dropping 2 tenths.

1500 (Mile)

Nico Lastauska (the cyclopes) swam to a record BDA Team Time in the mile. His time of 17:47.95 was a time drop of 9 seconds. He unfortunately had to swim it with one goggle filled and one clear to see right off of the first wall. Lastauskas hung tough the whole way ending his 2014 summer with another Best.

Katie Voitik landed herself in the nighttime finals of the mile (Stay Tuned)

LTB Hit rate 35.29% (6 of 17 )

Nico Lastauskas was Swimmer of the session for his BDA Team Record and 3 LTB’s.
